Government, Oyo is still in the process of choosing a new Alaafin. This
occurred precisely one year after the king or queen passed away in April 2022.
The governor stated, "Oba
Adeyemi is the most recent elected member of a long line of heirs to a
prominent royal family over the years." Concerns over the length of time
it has taken to name a new Alaafin have grown a year after Adeyemi's passing.
However, some royal families
claimed they had stopped making recommendations to the government as of October
2022.
His passing prevented the
installation of a new Imam in the city since Alaafin was the only one who could
do so. But the director assured that once the procedure is finished, the public
will be informed.
