LABOUR PARTY FROWNS AT ALEX OTTI'S REMOVAL AS ABIA STATE GOVERNOR ELECT, SAYS IT'S LAUGHABLE

The election of Dr. Alex Otti as the next governor of Abia State was declared invalid following a recent decision by a Federal High Court in Kano.

Justice M.N. Yunusa presided over the court hearings and ruled that Otti and all other Labour Party candidates' elections in Abia State were invalid.

This publication has previously reported that the court based its ruling on the argument that Otti's emergence and the candidacies of other impacted people did not follow the guidelines set down in the 2022 Electoral Act.

The Abia State Labour Party Chairman, Hon. Ceekay Igara, responded to the court's verdict by calling it "laughable."

The court's ruling, according to Igara, will have no bearing on the incoming inauguration of the Governor-elect.

He emphasized that a democratically elected official can only be ousted from office by an election tribunal.

Igara said in his statement, "The court's ruling is ridiculous. Everyone should carry on with their daily routine. Alex Otti can only be fired by the tribunal. A legally elected person cannot be overthrown by a court on its own. In fact, I'm ramping up my inauguration preparations.
