To ensure a peaceful transition of power on May 29 at both the national and subnational levels of government across the nation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has begun a nationwide raid of drug joints under the cover name "Operation Mop Up." This operation is part of law enforcement efforts to remove those who deal in and use drugs that facilitate crime and violence.

The NDLEA reported that in the
first few days since the operation began, it has detained 534 suspects in
states and the Federal Capital Territory, and during that time, tons of illegal
drugs, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol, syrup with
codeine, cannabis sativa, and various new psychoactive substances, have been
found.
Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Kaduna, Rivers,
Bayelsa, Adamawa, Osun, Benue, and Plateau top the list for most arrests and seizures.

(ret.), the NDLEA Chairman, praised all the officers and soldiers from the
participating state commands for their professionalism and adherence to NDLEA
standard operating procedure.
The use of illegal drugs, their
dealers, and anyone who relies on them to disrupt the inaugural festivities on
May 29 across the states and the Federal Capital Territory will be
significantly reduced as a result, according to Marwa.
According to Channels TV, he
ordered them to stick to the operational principle of "offensive
action" against drug cartels and traffickers until every last gram of
illegal drugs is removed from the country's streets and towns.
