Gunmen have kidnapped Reverend Father Jeremiah Yakubu, a parish priest at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Karku, Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

According to Al-Labeeb Media, Reverend Father Emmanuel Okolo, the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, released a statement confirming the information.

The statement claims that at around 11 p.m. on Sunday, Father Yakubu was abducted from the security of the parish rectory in Kauru LGA, shocking the neighbourhood and congregation.

Father Okolo urged the faithful to join together in fervent prayer in response to this dire situation, praying for the quick and safe release of the abducted clergyman. He also cautioned parishioners against intervening themselves and emphasised the value of letting law enforcement handle the situation.

Father Okolo assured the distraught community that the church would use all legal means to facilitate Reverend Father Yakubu's prompt return.
